Bjarne Melgaard received his education at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts, Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, and the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. He has shown his work in exhibitions around the world, including at the Whitney Biennial 2014, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and London's Institute of Contemporary Art. His work is in permanent collections at several notable institutions, such as The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The National Gallery, Oslo; and the Saatchi Gallery Collection, London. Considered one of Norway’s most important contemporary artists, he is best known for his controversial sculptural installations and paintings. Melgaard currently resides and works in New York.
